2025 Board of Directors

At our May 2025 Annual Meeting, the members elected four alumni and re-elected two to the 15-member Board of Directors, joining the other members who had been elected at previous annual meetings. In July 2025, one of the two re-elected Board members, Cindy Singletary, resigned from the Board, and her replacement will be announced soon. The current members of the Board of Directors are:

 

Serving the first year of a 3-year term that ends in 2028:

  • Kenney, Tom
    Last EPA position was an attorney in the Region 5 Office of Regional Council. Currently retired.

  • Kemker, Carol
    Last EPA position was the Director Enforcement and Compliance Assurance in Region 4. Currently retired.

  • Russell, Sara
    Last EPA position was the Director of the San Francisco Federal Executive Board in Region 9. Currently retired.

  • Vanino, Ann
    Last EPA position was the Chief of the Policy Section, Special Pesticide Review Division in Washington, DC. Currently the owner of Ann Vanino Coaching and Consulting.
     

Re-elected to the Board and serving the first year of a 3-year term that ends in 2028:

  • Diamond, Bruce
    Last EPA position was Director, Office of Site Remediation Enforcement, OSWER. Currently retired.

 

Serving the second year of a 3-year term that ends in 2027:

  • Armstead, John
    Last EPA position was Director, Land and Chemicals Division, Region 3.  Currently, Adjunct Professor at Villanova University and Lincoln University, both located in Pennsylvania

  • Banister, Beverly
    Last EPA position was Deputy Regional Administrator, Region 4. Currently retired.

  • Mugdan, Walter
    Last EPA position was Deputy Regional Administrator, Region 2. Currently, president of local conservation group.

  • Orme-Zavaleta, Jennifer
    Last EPA position was Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Science in the Office of Research and Development and EPA Science Advisor. Currently, Environmental Protection Network Board Member.

  • Pederson, William
    Last EPA position was Associate General Counsel for Air and Radiation. Currently retired.

Serving the third year of a 3-year term that ends in 2026:

  • Madsen, Caren
    Last EPA position was Environmental Protection Specialist. Currently, Director, Conservation Montgomery Board.

  • Reeder, John
    Last EPA position was Deputy Chief of Staff. Currently, Vice President for Federal Affairs, Environmental Working Group.

  • Sanders III, William
    Last EPA position was Director, National Center for Environmental Research, Office of Research and Development. Currently, Mayor, Town of Highland Beach, Maryland.

  • Wegman, Lydia
    Last EPA position was Director, Health and Environmental Impacts Division, Office of Air and Radiation. Currently retired.
