This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22 and the 50th anniversary of EPA's creation on December 2.
To mark these important milestones, we have extensively revised and updated our Half Century of Progress reports, first begun in 2016. "HCP" tells the story of conditions which led to EPA being established, the progress which has been made in controlling and preventing pollution, and the need to address remaining environmental challenges. We appreciate the creative and hard work which brought that progress about and are grateful to the 30+ volunteer authors who have collaborated on telling this important story. Click here to see the updated Half Century of Progress materials.
Our plans to further celebrate the two fifty year anniversaries are being revised in light the Covid-19 pandemic. The plan to conduct Teach-ins in the Spring has, of course, been cancelled. Video presentations based on the HCP materials are being developed. We are hopeful that we can conduct the events planned for December 2, but realize that we need to remain flexible. Our newsletter will update decisions as we are able to make them.
