Coaching and Mentoring Opportunities

Coaching

EPA AA members participate in EPA’s National Coaching Program for EPA employees. The national EPA lead person manages the program for the Agency and coordinates with the Association’s certified coach volunteers directly. To volunteer as a coach under the MOU, the alumni must:

--- be certified as a coach by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or comparable organization; and

--- complete and submit the form required by the EPA Alumni Association to the Association.

Once the Association notifies EPA that the form is approved, EPA works with the alum to ensure EPA’s requirements are met and schedules the coaching. Coaches also participate in EPA meetings on the coaching program. The MOU between EPA and the Association sets certain restrictions that can be reviewed here.

Today, there are 14 certified EPA Alumni Association coaches. The program provides group coaching as well as individual coaching.

Mentoring

The MOU between EPA and the Association lays our a structure by which alumni can mentor current EPA staff.  The Association has conducted group mentoring at the request of EPA management in the past. There have been recent requests for mentoring from newly-released EPA staff.  Our sister organization, the Environmental Protection Network (EPN) may have opportunities to mentor these individuals.
